Something totally different

Yesterday I received a new toy. It's totally unrelated to visual effects. All of us have hobbies to keep our minds fresh. Here's just one of mine!

This is the Tippman A-5 Paintball Marker. It has what is called a flatline barrel, which looks similar to a silencer. However what it is doing, instead of silencing the gun, is applying backspin to the paintball, which allows the ball to fly farther than it normally would. This is advantageous in woodsball or recball, and I missed playing with this on our last paintball outing.

My previous paintball marker was a Spyder Imagine, from 2003, bought for a hundred bucks. It's an electric gun, which uses pulses of electricity from a battery to signal the triggering system to fire another paintball. Both of my markers run off of compressed air. While the Spyder excels in putting out a huge number of paintballs because of it's electric trigger (think 13+ balls per sec), the A-5 excels in accuracy and distance. Two very different markers with exceptional characteristics on the paintball field.
