If you've been browsing IMDB lately, you'll notice that we've been awarded Enchanted, a magical fairy tale being produced by Disney.
I know as much as you do at the moment, which is that we seem to be the only VFX house listed. That may change, so who knows! It seems to be a large show, but only time will tell. I am unsure as to whether I will be on this show or the other shows that we're bidding on. The plot of Enchanted is as follows:
Where a young girl met and fell in love with a handsome prince. News of this romance upsets his mother, the evil queen. Who then uses her black magic to send the girl hurtling out of the animated world into the one place in the universe where there is no true love: modern day Manhattan.The now-real girl now has to survive in the real New York City. But -- against all odds -- she does find true love in Manhattan. Only this time around, the girl winds up falling for a married man.And -- if this situation weren't already complicated enough -- that handsome prince that the girl originally fell for? He uses his mother's black magic to also travel to Manhattan. But he's soon followed by the evil queen!So now the young girl must decide. We're back! After a nice nine days away from the office, the Charlotte's team is back at work. We're still on schedule to finish up when we're supposed to, regardless of when the film will premiere, which IMDB states as now December, 2006! I've got a couple shots to put to bed this week, and I've received two finals so far this year!
Over the holiday break I had a chance to catch up with some old, and new series. Battlestar Galactica took up two solid days to finish watching. I'm all caught up with Season 2, and the new episode starts this Friday. So far I'm impressed with the varied storylines, and the effects are top notch. It's a great sci-fi drama, almost along the complex storylines of Babylon 5. I mentioned before in this blog that several former coworkers now run and own one of the companies that create effects for the show, and they're doing a great job!
I also started watching a cancelled series called Dead Like Me, which was recommended to me earlier in the year. I just watched the pilot and am waiting for the other episode discs to reach me, and can't for the life of me figure out why it was cancelled. The pilot was quite engaging, the effects were nice, and there was an actual story with great characters. I worked directly with one of the co-producers, Bob Habros, while I was in Vancouver, on The Outer Limits. It's such a shame that a great show like this was cancelled.
